Cultivating Resilience in Times of Change and Uncertainty

inspiration Nov 09, 2020

What is resilience and who needs it anyway?

Resilience refers to how well you can deal with and bounce back from the difficulties of life. It can mean the difference between handling pressure and losing your cool. Resilient people tend to maintain a more positive outlook and cope with stress more effectively.

Research has shown that while some people seem to come by resilience naturally, these behaviors can also be learned. Whether you’re going through a tough time now or you want to be prepared for the next one, here are six techniques you can focus on in order to foster your own resilience.

1 Embrace Change, It’s How We Grow and Evolve.

Flexibility is an essential part of resilience. By learning how to be more adaptable, you’ll be better equipped to respond when faced with a life crisis. Resilient people often utilize these events as an opportunity to branch out in new directions. While some people may be crushed by abrupt changes, highly resilient individuals...

Gratitude

inspiration Nov 09, 2020

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend” ~ M. Beattie

Sometimes I wonder if I just got lucky. Maybe for this trip God chose to bless me with a joyful and grateful heart. I have wondered if it’s just that the challenges in my life are less than the joys, or just easier than other peoples challenges, maybe, or maybe not.

I have learned that living a life with gratitude and choosing thankfulness is a choice. There was a time I thought my life experience was based on external events, what I have thankfully learned is that living a happy joyful life comes from within ourselves and not what happens to us from outside forces. Shifts in our thinking from dull expectancy to joyful appreciation, can occur if we regularly and mindfully draw our attention to everything...

The Tyranny of Fear

inspiration Nov 09, 2020

“It’s not what we don’t know that gets us in trouble; it’s what we know for sure that’s just not true.” –Mark Twain

Fear is the mechanism used by the ego to keep us tied to our thoughts and beliefs. It results in our ego state of consciousness. Fear is the glue the ego uses to bind us to itself, and fear is what needs to be overcome to be free of ego-identification. Fortunately, it isn’t as difficult as it sounds. After all, fear is just another idea, and like all ideas, fear is only as real and holds as much power as we give it.

The best definition of FEAR that I have heard is: False Evidence Appearing Real

How difficult is it to overcome something that has no reality or truth? Overcoming fear- based beliefs is only difficult if you make fear a reality by believing in it.

Fear is a creation of the ego. If you examine any one of your fears, you’ll see that it refers to a future possibility, not a current...

Relationships as a Spiritual Path of Healing

inspiration relationship Nov 09, 2020

“The greatest gift you can give to somebody is your own personal development. I used to say, “If you will take care of me, I will take care of you.” Now I say, “I will take care of me for you if you will take care of you for me.” ~Jim Rohn

Our relationships make up the most important experiences of our lives. Our entire reality is created from, and based upon, our relationship with ourselves and the people around us. This may sound obvious; yet few people stop and take a deeper look at this most powerful and fascinating entity termed ‘relationship’.

Nothing in our lives brings us more joy, peace and fulfillment or creates more pain, suffering and tragedy than our relationships. Virtually everything we know and understand about ourselves is recognized and understood through our relationships. This is why being in relationship is the most sacred and powerful experience you will have in your lifetime. Your relationships can serve as tools to...

Self-Importance

inspiration Nov 09, 2020

“We are never so trivial as when we take ourselves seriously” – Oscar Wilde

One of the more important and challenging teachings of the Toltec Path for me was learning to let go of myself importance. Once I saw how this self concept blocked my joy and peace in the moment it became easier for me to start to let go of my pettiness and need to take everything that happened so personally.

With out even noticing, many of us have adopted a belief that everything that occurs in our life is in some way about us. With that comes the opportunity to personalize every encounter and experience we have with others and life. This is great if the place we are coming from is love. However, many of us have  unconscious fear-based beliefs and wounds  that distort our experiences and create the illusion that in some way we are being attacked or made wrong, when often it is a distorted view we are experiencing through the filters of our beliefs.

Our concept of self-importance...

What If...

inspiration Nov 09, 2020

What if loneliness was simply a feeling of impatience, telepathically sent to you by friends you have yet to meet, experiences life was calling you towards, urging you to go out more, do more, and get involved, so that life’s serendipitous moments could bring you together? Would you still feel alone?

What if illness was just a signal a healthy body sent to urge clarification of your thoughts, feelings and dreams? Would you still, at times, think of yourself as sick?

What if mistakes and failures only ever happened when your life was about to get even better than it has ever been before? Would you still call them mistakes and failures?

And, what if poverty and lack were simply demonstrations of your manifesting prowess, as “difficult” to acquire as wealth and abundance? Would they still cause you to feel powerless?

What if what felt like being in a crisis or stuck was nature’s way of urging us to let go of patterns, and ways of being that no longer...
