Kalynn is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She believes we are all students in the classroom of life. She received her MA in Counseling and her MBA from Oakland University. In her therapeutic space, Kalynn creates an atmosphere of genuineness, empathic understanding and unconditional positive regard. She approaches each session in a conversational way, believing that as we gain self-awareness about our thoughts and feeling, change will occur. Kalynn embraces the concept that we are all intrinsically created to reach our potential. Hence, her focus is on removing obstacles that block us from achieving growth and happiness. Kalynn also believes that we all possess an innate fear of being alone and not connected. As a student of A Course in Miracles, (ACIM), Kalynn enriches her theoretical approach with spirituality.
Her personal experience has taught her that through our own defeat, suffering, struggle, and loss we are given the opportunity to rise from the depths and use our gratitude, sensitivity and understanding of life, to offer compassion, gentleness and concern. After a decade in Human Resources for a fortune 100 company, and fifteen years as a stay-at-home mom, Kalynn returned to school because she knew she was not finished. She is passionate about her work and feels privileged to be part of another person’s journey.
Kalynn enjoys working with adults of all ages. She has in-depth experience with those struggling with substance abuse issues and addiction. As part of her commitment, she is a member of the Oakland County 52- 4 District Court Drug Team, Troy. She also works with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, self-injury, grief/loss, and suicidal ideation. Her passion is strong in the area of relationship work; whether it be with couples, a family member/friend or self. Kalynn has additional hours of training through the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. She believes her own personal fulfillment and growth is connected to her work. Witnessing an individual’s success brings her true joy; whether it be clarity in a relationship or freedom from an addiction.
In addition to her work, she has been involved in the community. Kalynn was on the Board of Director’s that founded Disaster Relief at Work (DRAW), acted as a first responder in Oklahoma after a horrific tornado, Co-chaired the Education Committee for the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce, a Stephen minister for ten years, a Literacy Council volunteer and Crop Walk Co-Chair. Also, she is married to her high school sweetheart, has two amazing adult sons, a beautiful daughter-in-law and a gem of a golden retriever, named Remy.
