Are you searching for something greater, something more satisfying and rewarding in life? Are you looking to find your passion? I believe there is a purpose in everyone’s journey and we are here to discover it.
Hi, my name is Cathie. I’ve been asking myself for years, “Why am I here? What is my purpose?” I have always believed that I had a calling but I could never pin it down, I just didn’t quite know what it was. And then my life went into a tailspin. The job that had defined me for 30 years came to an end and within the same month, my father’s health started to fail. Within one month I lost my sense of identity and started on a journey of saying goodbye to someone who served as my protector throughout life.
My journey was not from point A to point B; there was no clear alignment or direction. I had spent decades looking outside at the things I needed to do to “measure up” and to be successful. And then everything changed. Once again, I started to ask the never-ending question, “What is my purpose in this world?” The difference this time was that I started to look inside; I began to listen to my heart. And what I found was monumental.
It started when I was five, I was diagnosed with cancer. I lost my left eye and I’ve worn a patch ever since. As a child, I saw myself as flawed… I was different, I was not good enough. What I realized five decades later is that I still carried that belief. I didn’t just have a scar on my face; I wore that scar on my heart.
We start our lives with a free spirit, endless curiosity and an unwavering belief of infinite joy and then we experience something that changes our perspective, and we begin to see ourselves as broken. We all have experiences that create negative beliefs of who we are and what we are capable of, stories that stop us from being the magnificence that we are meant to be. The challenge for us all is seeing the beauty we posses – to step away from the criticism and judgment that we have been programmed with and to recognize our brilliance. It requires turning off our ego and being present to our beauty; to truly love ourselves so that we can love others – unconditionally. It seems pretty fundamental, but for many of us, it’s really not.
I now consider my scar a sacred gift and I am grateful for what I have learned on my journey. There is more to learn and every day I seek greater wisdom and clarity. I know my path is true and if I can help you uncover your magnificence I would be honored. Never give up pursuing your quest for truth, it resides within and awaits your discovery.
The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away. – Pablo Picasso
